halacha - Following more lenient opinions for fasting times

Related: Until what time in the morning may you eat on a fast day?

There are different opinions about exactly when one must start fasting. For someone planning to wake up to eat, all agree that they must conclude eating before alot hashachar, but there are differences about exactly when that is. For example, some say 90 minutes before sunrise, others 72, others 16.1 degrees of the sun, and it seems like some also say 60 minutes.

If someone's minhag is, say, 72 minutes, are they allowed to b'dieved (after-the-fact) use the 60-minute time?
